Board Met to Plan 5-School Picnic
The 2006 board of directors held its 4th meeting of the year on May 21 at director Nancy Hwang's house in Wheaton.  Serveral topics were discussed at the meeting but special attention was focused on the planning of the 5-school picnic .  In the past few years this had been a 3-school event jointly held by Beinu (北一女), Chien Chung (建中), and NTU (台大) alumni associations.  Because of the event's success in the past two more schools (中山女高和師大附中) have decided to join this year.  The meeting concentrated on several topics: the 5-school picnic on Saturday, June 17th.
In the meeting the board also reviewed the two events held in April.  Many suggestions were made on improving them the next time around.  Board members discussed the posibility of making NTUAA-DC a non-profit organization.

Well Attended April Events
Our twin April events: 中西醫學講座 及 網球交誼 were a success.
On April 22, we held the 1st in the series of Western and Chinese Medicine Seminar.  Thirty-five (35) alumni as well as non-alumni attended Dr. Pung and Dr. Chou’s session on allergy.  After learning how to manage allergy, we wish the participants enjoy alleviation from this seasonal discomfort.
On April 29, 81 people attended the tennis social held at the Four Seasons Tennis Club.  Some came with the entire family.  All participants, young and not so young, enjoyed an evening of social, friendly games and tasty snacks.  Special thanks go to Dr. Charles Young for his coordination and help in securing the excellent site.  We apologize that the sushi platter ran empty when some tennis players tried to sample it after a late game.  We will try to order even more sushi and schedule the serving time better next year.

On March 24, 2006, NTU held a seminar on the ideals and principles of the late President Fu (傅斯年校長) on running an institute of higher learning.  Prof. Chun-chieh Huang黃俊傑教授 led the discussion on「傅斯年在台大的辦學理念與策略」.  The occasion was to commemorate the 110th birthday of the late President Fu.  The newly published 「台灣大學辦學理念與策略」by the Taiwan University Publishing Center is a collection of Mr. Fu’s writings during his tenure as President of the University from 1949-1950.
